When I first saw this movie when I was a kid, it scared the absolute crap out of me. The songs were dark and spooky and I thought that the Plagues of Egypt, the raid on the Hebrew villages where they kill all the babies and when god kills every Egyptian newborn absolutely terrifying. Many years later, I hear some people talking about their favorite animated movies and this came up. So I decided to re-live the terror of my childhood. Now I can finally see the masterpiece this movie really is. The score by Hans Zimmer is legendary! It is so epic and powerful, especially for an animated movie. Also, now that I am older, I can appreciate the voice acting because the voices are now so recognizable to me. Val Kilmer, Patrick Stewart, Jeff Goldblum, Sandra Bullock, etc. One actor who really stood out to me was Ralph Fiennes as Rameses. He is just so menacing! As for the fact that this is a biblical movie, to my atheist friends, not too worry. This film doesn't get preachy. It takes a legendary story from a legendary book and tells it in a grand and epic way. From the first notes out of Hans Zimmer's french horns, you can tell this movie is going to be an epic one. That is the one perfect word to describe Prince of Egypt, epic!
