Unbroken - Review

This movie was hard to watch. Brutal prison camp scenes mixed with a run-time that feels longer than it actually is, this movie felt like a chore to get through. It's a shame because this is a really well-made movie. Excellent performances, excellent action (when it is there) and great production design. This film looks brilliant, it's just that I don't think I can ever watch this movie again. There is only so much suffering an audience can watch. Now I know that this is supposed to show how tough this guy's life really was, it gets to the point where you want to turn it off. Honestly, if someone were to do a re-edit of this film and cut out certain points of torture and just left the main story beats, I think it could work much more efficiently. It would be much better than constantly just waiting for this movie to end. If a film makes me check my watch, that's a bad sign. So I'm torn on this one. All I can recommend is watch a trailer or two and see for yourself. Just know that there is tons of brutal uncomfortable moments throughout the whole thing film.
