Boyhood - Review

This movie is something else. It really is crazy seeing these characters age over time like this together. There really isn't a plot but rather a retrospective of life. Being roughly the same age as the actor who played Mason, I could relate to him in almost every stage of his life. When Mason was about 10, he was playing a Gameboy Advance. When I was 10, I was playing a Gameboy Advance. We were both talking about the same things when we first entered high school and had the same issues around that time. Sure, I didn't really turn into this photographer hipster dude, but it was very surreal being able to relate to a character that much. Ethan Hawke was one of my favourite parts of the film. His acting was great and he had some awesome quotes. The one about the bowling bumpers for example. I won't spoil it... but it's in the trailer if you really want to hear it. Upset that Richard Linklater did not win for Best Director because he deserved it, but overall, a good movie!
