The Sound of Music

After seeing Lady Gaga's performance at the Oscars this year, I thought it would be a perfect time to revisit the Sound Of Music. I really liked this film as a kid, but I can safely say that over the years, it's gotten better. Watching it as an adult, I can now understand the politics and the reason why Captain Von Trapp has to escape from the Nazis. Not to mention that the songs are still as wonderful as ever. I also didn't quite understand the love triangle between the Baroness and Maria when I was a kid and why Maria had to run away from the Von Trapp household. I have many movies from my childhood where I don't necessarily understand the entire story of the film but just remember exciting moments. Adding those special moments of nostalgia as kid along with the further understanding of the more adult aspects of the story can really give you a whole new appreciation for a movie. All the children have great moments and great chemistry with Maria, but in my eyes, the one who stole the show was Captain Von Trapp. He played both the fast-talking, no nonsense war general and the loveable father all in one. From a Cinematography stand point, every single shot in this movie is damn near perfect. Overall, from a filmmaking point of view, and from a movie loving point of view, The Sound of Music is an absolute masterpiece!
