Furious 7 - Review

If you read my, "The Fast and the Furious" Review, you know that I preferred that film to the newer ones because it had just enough story to keep my interested. This film's plot is simple enough to keep someone interested but they action and the excitement make this movie work. There are two kinds of over-the-top. There is the so over-the-top that it becomes stupid (Fast & Furious 6) and so over-the-top that it is awesome (Furious 7). This film just straight up kicks ass. All the stunts and action scenes were really well done. Where this film suffers is when it tries to take itself to seriously. No spoilers but there is a tragedy that happens and the scene became really cheesy and cringeworthy. It dived into the realm of stupidity a little bit with one or two stunts and especially with the character Mia, but the movie was so jam packed with action that you dismiss it. Sidenote: There are about 100 shots of girls butts in this movie. So.....take that what you will. Kurt Russell and Jason Statham were nice additions to the movie and the supporting cast had their fair share of laughs. Of course, I need to mention the elephant in the room and that is Paul Walker. For the scenes that were shot after his tragic death, you can clearly tell that it isn't him. I can't really fault the production for that because it was such a tragedy and awkward situation to be in. But they handled it with an excellent send off to his character. Bring your tissues for the end of this movie cause you're gonna need them. Overall, I would highly recommend seeing this film on the giant screen. It was a great time at the movies!
