Saving Private Ryan - Review

I recently re-watched Hacksaw Ridge about a month ago and I thought to myself, "Which movie has the more violent scene?" Was it the attack on the beaches of Normandy in Saving Private Ryan or the attack on Hacksaw Ridge in Hacksaw Ridge. While both scenes are extremely violent, I would have to give it to Hacksaw in that category. However, after watching Saving Private Ryan again, I realized why. Steven Spielberg made the battle scenes with a very 'hands on' approach. Meaning that the camera is all shaky and you can clearly tell that it is not being handled by a camera rig or any heavy machinery. In Hacksaw, it does. Meaning that you are able to show the violence from more angles. But enough about comparisons, what do I think of this film? Hands down, in my eyes, best war movie ever made. Everything from the great cast of talented actors playing compelling characters, to the extremely intense, perfectly executed battle scenes, this film is perfect. Very few films get that title in my books. It has to be a film that I can watch time and time again and it still emotionally move me every single time. This movie tackles the theme of what makes a true hero and what it's like to take another man's life away. I'll admit, war films do tackle that subject matter quite a bit, but I can't think of another film that has done it so well. Steven Spielberg, you sir know how to make a fantastic movie. One of my favourites of all time.
