Dr. No - Review

This is where it all began. Back in 1962 with Dr. No. Now let me be perfectly clear. This film is dated. Some of the effects, the editing, the action sequences, and the acting is quite laughable. However, it is still a very enjoyable movie to watch not only to see how far the James Bond franchise has come, but also because of the story and the characters, particularly 007 himself, James Bond played by Sean Connery.
James Bond is the ultimate man men strive to be. Dashingly handsome, oozing charisma and charm, always the most alpha in the room, travelling the world, wickedly talented, brutally strong, travelling the world, killing bad guys, and women everywhere want to be with him. He is the ultimate form of masculinity and Sean Connery displays that perfectly.
The story is rather simple too. Sure, nowadays you may miss a piece of information because of the speech that these actors were using back in the day, but if you really pay attention, you'll be able to get it just fine. Something I was not able to do as a kid.
While this movie is not a movie I recommend going back to if you are just looking to watch a two hour spy thriller because there are much more contemporary options out there, but if you are a fan of the bond franchise and can look past many of the dated aspects, this is a great look back to where it all began for one of the best film franchises of all time.
