The LEGO Movie - Review

When this film was screened for test audiences, half of the theatre was full of children and the other half were their parents. During the screening, it was said that the parents were laughing more than the kids were. Really? How did "The LEGO Movie" pull this off? It is because this film is targetted towards an older generation who grew up playing with LEGO. This film could have easily wandered down the paths of Alvin and the Chipmunks or the Smurfs. Taking an 80's name and completely selling out to marketing, focus groups, and only concerned about making a profit as opposed to the story. Here, yes this is one giant commercial, but it has laughs, a hilarious storyline and a ton of heart. Themes about family and how being yourself is one of the most "awesome" things about you. Overall, this is the perfect film to see if you are babysitting if you still don't feel comfortable watching a film about LEGO, but trust me, this film will give you plenty of reasons to laugh.
