After watching "Apocalypse Now", I felt like watching some more Vietnam war films, and it seems only fitting to watch "Platoon" next since Martin Sheen starred in "Apocalypse Now" and his son Charlie Sheen stars here. Right off the bat, I'm going to say that this film is not as good as "Apocalypse Now". Although this film has a stellar cast and some really intense combat scenes, its predecessor made war really look like hell on earth. Not to say that this film didn't. It is truly terrifying when Charlie Sheen's character wakes up to find an ambush of Vietnamese are only yards away. Both films don't shy away of the fact that the Americans weren't always the good guys and could be just as 'evil' as the enemy. It's a good film and worth a look!
