Kingsman: The Secret Service - Review

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. No really! I'm serious! I mean... Wow! This is a classic example of a "simple story, with a new twist" The twist was simply being self-aware in this modern age of dark, brooding serious spy and hero movies. Making references to James Bond and Jason Bourne, this movie was able to laugh at itself but yet still be entertaining as hell. Taron Egerton is going to be a big star! Mark my words! Cast him in one of the new Star Wars movies and also get Mattew Vaughn to direct it. Now that is a film I want to see. Not only does the newcomer Taron Egerton bring his A-game, Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson are spectacular! Colin Firth is well-known for always playing the "British Gentleman". Not only are his manners and "gentlemen-ness" present in this film, but he adds a whole new level of badass to his resume. Samuel L. Jackson as the villain was brilliant. Just the right balance of evil and comedy. His lisp and his signature swearing get big laughs and you can tell that he is loving every minute he is on screen. As for the action scenes, unbelievable! Some of the best I've ever seen. One scene in particular had my jaw drop to the floor. Not giving it away, but that certain scene had the best use of the song "Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd" since Forrest Gump. That scene by itself makes me want to see a Matthew Vaughn directed Star Wars film. I could only imagine what he would do with a lightsaber duel. There are so many spy films out there. Lots have great characters, great action set-pieces, interesting stories and even some have great soundtracks, but I dare you to find one as fun as Kingsman: The Secret Service. One of the best times at the movies in years! A MUST-WATCH!
