The Santa Clause 2 - Review

Seriously? The Santa Clause 2 gets a 5-Star rating?! Yes, guys. I love this movie. I didn't really even grow up with it from childhood either. I saw this film for the first time in Grade 10 and have watched it every year since. So why do I love this movie? First, it is full of Christmas cheer. It captures the essence of what makes Christmas super special. Okay so what! I'm sure there are plenty of crap movies that have wonderful Christmas cheer, so why this film? Well, the relationships between the characters are interesting. Tim Allen's Scott character has to find a wife before Christmas and of course, he finds a potential candidate in the most unlikely place. Instead of it being cliche like most Disney films where they fall in love in three days, their relationship grows and it's actually really sweet to see. His relationship with his son is also an understandable one. He hasn't always been there for him because of his Santa duties and his son now gets into trouble. The characters are actually very well written. You know what else is well written, the script. There are many funny jokes in here. Now I'm not saying that they are rolling on the floor stand up comedian jokes, but some chuckles and good smiles kind of jokes. Quick side note, this film was shot in my hometown which makes it even more magical. Overall, skip the first one and definitely give this one a shot. It is a kids film so be warned is whimsy is not your thing. If it is, then this is the film to watch this holiday season.
