The Revenant - Review

Get your hate mail ready... again. I thought 'The Revenant' was just ...okay. WHAT?! OH MY GOD?! Brandon has lost his mind. Yeah, I hate to say that this film didn't blow me out of the water the way it did for so many other people I know. Everyone is talking about how Leonardo DiCaprio is going to win the oscar for this role. To be completely honest, I think Johnny Depp's performance in 'Black Mass' was still the best I've seen all year. Don't get me wrong, Leo is great here and so is the rest of the cast, but I was not blown away. Also, just a side note, Tom Hardy is damn near impossible to understand. 'The Revenant' is what I call a film school movie. What do I mean by that? Well, if you watch a movie for the production design, the cinematography, and the lighting, then this movie is for you. The cinematography is breathtaking. But if you don't really care about that stuff, then I can see where this film would fall flat. It's pretty slow and a little boring at parts. I'm somewhere in the middle for me. I'd say go see it, though. A lot of people like it and maybe you could be a part of that group.
