American History X - Review

Like the academy-award winning film, 'Crash', this film deals with the racial hate in America. But unlike 'Crash', 'American History X' showcases the inner struggle of a racist man and how humans can become racist in the first place and most importantly, how humans can change for the better. Edward Norton gives an amazing performance and somehow makes us empathize with him even though he is an extremely racist gang leader with a large Nazi symbol over his heart. If I had to say something bad about this movie, the music can be a little cheesy at points, especially with all the slow-motion, and that the cinematography was a bit annoying to watch at points. Whether is be axis jumps, awkward close-ups or just weird choices, it's hard to explain but, I don't know... But if the characters are interesting and the plot is solid and gripping you in, it doesn't matter how you shoot it. You'd still have a great movie, like 'American History X'.
