Scream - Review

I never watch horror movies. I get scared way too easily and I don't like lots of gore in my movies. But, I've been told by several people to watch 'Scream' because it's a good movie that is more teen thriller than full out horror film. They were right. Sure some scenes were well-done and pretty freaky but nothing to the point where I would have nightmares. What this film does well, it fills you with intrigue. You are constantly trying to put the pieces together to find out who the killer is. One thing that kind of annoyed me was the satirical aspects. Now I like satire as much as the next person but some scenes were hitting me over the top with it. A number of times they referenced other Wes Craven movies and how the characters constantly say things like, "If we were in a movie then... blah blah blah... would happen" and, "This isn't a movie! This is actually happening." It got a little repetitive. I'm not the biggest fan of crapping my pants in fear when I watch movies so this was a good movie to ease myself into the horror genre. A welcome introduction.
