A Goofy Movie - Review

Before this review begins, I should point out that I didn't grow up with 'A Goofy Movie'. Although it was released the same year I was born, it never found it's way into the VHS collection. Then one day in Grade 10, one of my friends who I was going to Disneyland with on a high school trip and I decided to have a Disney marathon in preparation for the trip. One of the movies on the list was ' A Goofy Movie'. Little did I know that was going to uncover one of Disney's hidden gems. Every year since then, I have re-watched this film around the time of school being done for the summer. Since this year (2017 while writing this) is the last time I can officially say that school is out for summer, I watched this film as this tradition one final time. This movie is great! I love it. Sometimes during movies, you can pinpoint the certain moment where you think to yourself, "Yep, I love this movie!" For me, it was the climax of the film. Just how fun it was and satisfying to see the two main characters get to that point. No spoilers don't worry. Even though this film did feel like something that would play on the Disney Channel on a Friday evening, the jokes actually warrant some laughter even from Pauly Shore's character (which rarely happens with him.) The story surprisingly has some character drama that isn't just a bunch of throwaway lines. It's told through the characters actions and expressions. Not everything is simply told to us like many other kids films do. Last thing, the soundtrack made exclusively for this film is fantastic. Extremely catchy and I will admit that I have the whole album downloaded on Spotify. Some songs even made their way to pre-drinking parties... okay, maybe I was the only one attending, but that doesn't change the fact that this film has great songs. I always have a smile on my face from beginning to end when watching this film. I've seen it over 7 times, all as a teenager/adult and it never gets old!
