Finding Dory - Review

Hey, guys! TURN OFF YOUR DAMN CELL PHONES IN THE THEATRE!!!... Anyways, when you create a sequel over a decade since the original, the expectations will be soaring through the roof, especially if the original is considered a masterpiece. After seeing the first trailer, I was ready for a disaster. I didn't laugh at any of the jokes and I thought that Pixar was going to pull a Cars 2 route as opposed to a Toy Story 2 & 3 route. But, I am happy to say that Finding Dory is a great film. Is it as good as the first one? Probably too soon to tell, but I would say no. First off, Finding Nemo was much darker than this film. Finding Dory had no giant angry sharks, no mines that blew up underwater, no stinging jellyfish, and no giant murder within the first 5 minutes. This film is much more light hearted. I don't want to give away anything about the plot but it doesn't feel nearly as intense as the first one. One thing that this film improved on was the animation. My goodness is it beautiful! Pixar could have easily targetted this film to little children under the age of 5, but Disney is smart. They knew that anyone born in the 90's was looking forward to this movie. So they put in lots of fan service and some clever jokes that not all the kids will understand. Overall, Pixar created yet another solid A picture! If you loved the first one, you won't be disappointed!
