So the first film was actually a pleasant surprise. It was fun, suspenseful and overall a good flick. Then when you start to dissect it, it is full of plot-holes and inconsistencies. This film, while still having twists and turns, manages to be a lot more straight forward. Another big change is the absence of Isla Fisher and the addition of Lizzy Caplan. At first, I didn't like it. Her jokes weren't funny and her character (along with Jesse Eisenberg) were pretty annoying. What kept me on track was the magic tricks. They were a treat to watch. I'm just glad that the horsemen actually have roles in this film as opposed to taking a back seat in the first entry. You finally have the focus on one group of characters that we can all get behind. Also, Daniel Radcliffe wasn't bad here. Yeah, I know he is a direct foil to his Harry Potter character (A character who is more focused on Science than actual magic) but I think he did a pretty good job given the material. Is this a great movie, no. But it is an entertaining one. Any movie that makes me not hate Dave Franco is a good one in my books.
