Is it just me, or whenever a new Marvel movie comes out, I keep hearing, "Oh it's the best Marvel film ever!" Or even anything that's new, I hear, "Best ever!" What this does is it sends expectations through the roof. Sort of like the boy who cried wolf. So is Doctor Strange as good as everyone says it is? Definitely not. Is it enjoyable, I would say yes. Benedict Cumberbatch does make a pretty good arrogant doctor and plays the part well. He can also really pull of the American accent really well. I also like the beginning of the origin story. It's something usually not seen in a Marvel film. Traveling dimensions, exploring space and time, all that good stuff. It makes for some pretty impressive visuals and an interesting premise. However, for some reason, with another villain of the week and some fairly cheesy bits, I got a little bored. It stepped foot into the bland territory. The whole 'dark dimension' stuff, I've seen it before. I've even seen it multiple times in Marvel films. A generic force that wants to take over the world that isn't really established. I enjoyed this film cause it had some unique elements but overall, I'm just kind of indifferent to this one.
