Jurassic Park - Review

I never grew up being a fan of Jurassic Park. I never thought dinosaurs were really that cool, and I remember seeing this film in bits and pieces and not being entirely interested. I liked the rides at the various Universal Studios theme parks and I enjoyed the John Williams score. However, after watching E.T. recently (another Spielberg picture) and enjoying Jurassic World, I decided to give Jurassic Park another chance. I'm really glad I did because this movie is fantastic. Anytime you put Steven Spielberg and John Williams together, it is bound to be magic. The Jurassic Park theme (2nd song on the Spotify soundtrack) is absolute magic. What I like about this film is that even though this film came out in 1993, the effects are still great. Obviously, not all the effects are perfect, some looked a bit "Phantom Menace" like, but the CGI mixed in with the practical dinosaurs is still jaw-dropping to watch. The first outbreak of the T-Rex is still as intense as ever because they actually had a live prop in front of the actors. Those kids look genuinely terrified because a giant dinosaur head was trying to eat them, not just some tennis ball in front of a green screen. Also, much like E.T., Spielberg gets a great subject matter enriched in many people's fantasy (like befriending an alien or seeing dinosaurs come to life) and turns it into a magic. You can't help but smile when you hear those amazing words, "Welcome... to Jurassic Park!" It's acted well, it's intense and scary while also being uplifting and wonderful. A great adventure!
