Relationship. That is the most important thing a director can give to an actor. Establish a relationship between two characters in which the actor can act upon. Good Will Hunting is a perfect example of this. The relationships between all of the characters matter to the story and feel extremely important. With great relationships between the characters, a great script and great direction, that allows for actors to thrive and boy do they here! Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Minnie Driver, Stellan Skarsgard and even Casey Affleck are all spectacular. Whether it's the Boston boys causing trouble in Harvard bars or Robin Williams and Stellan Skarsgard talking about their past and how it has affected their friendship, it is all acted with raw emotion. You truly feel the stakes of each character and their motivations perfectly. By the way, get your tissue box ready. I think you know what scene I'm talking about if you have seen this film. For those who get bored easily and don't like lots of talking in their movies, look elsewhere. If you love character dramas about life and one's true purpose, Good Will Hunting is an excellent choice!
