The Wolverine - Review

Back to basics. Superhero films nowadays I feel like they need to get super complicated. Tying in all the references and characters to the Avengers, keeping track of all the plotlines of the main X-Men films, and don't even get me started about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and how unnecessary lots of those plotlines are in there. The Wolverine knows that it is dealing with only a single member of the main X-Men and it keeps the story nice and streamlined. Someone, Wolverine had saved back in World War II wants to repay him all these years later, but his idea of doing that is taking away Wolverine's healing powers allowing him to die with honour. Bam, we got ourselves a plot to a movie. Simple. Of course, great action and drama ensue. It was nice seeing the Wolverine out of his element in Japan with all of its culture and design. This film gives us some of the best Wolverine action since the raid on the mansion in X-2 and one of the best action scenes to take place on a train since Spider-Man 2. Overall, this film doesn't make a huge mark on the X-Men franchise, but it's definitely worth a watch.
