Snowden - Review

Ever since I took a Mysteries and Conspiracies class in University in the semester of Fall 2016, I have been fascinated by American politics and espionage and conspiracy theories and stuff like that. Add on top of that, that Donald Trump won the presidency during this time while I was living in a fairly liberal city and studying at a fairly liberal university. So naturally, I wanted to see this movie when it came out and I finally got to see it. Was I impressed? Not really. To be honest, there really isn't anything special here. I just like seeing cool military spy technology on screen and that's about it. The story is serviceable at best and the actors do a fairly good job in their roles. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley have great chemistry together but I loved seeing Nicholas Cage here. I don't know what it is about him but I love him as an actor. So cooky and weird, it's great. That's really all I have to say about this one. If you are looking for a better film about conspiracy and espionage, then watch some of Oliver Stone's other works like JFK. I enjoyed watching this based on the premise alone but I can guarantee you that I won't be watching this movie again. Nothing really stood out as intriguing, intense or interesting enough to recommend to a wide audience.
