Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Much like my Fellowship of the Ring review, there is very little that hasn't been said about this movie already. So like before, I am going to speak about my personal experience with this entry of the series. As for the movie itself, it's bigger in every way than the first film. The characters are split apart and all have their own journeys to go on and each one is entertaining and interesting. However, the main focus of the movie is Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli helping the country of Rohan evade and fight Saruman's forces of Isengard. To me anyways, that story is much more interesting than the plot of the previous movie. As a kid watching this for the very first time, I was genuinely scared of Saruman's forces. They were a threat so big and so powerful, I didn't know how on earth they were going to survive the battle at Helm's Deep. The only other film I could think of seeing at that age where the bad guys seemed way too powerful to overcome was the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. I was about 8-9 years old when I saw these films for the first time. Normally in a three act structure of a story or a trilogy, the characters are at their weaker points and that is definitely true here. Aragorn and company have to help the country of Rohan who is without an army fend of Saruman's forces of over 10,000 men, Merry and Pippin are lost, Frodo and Sam's journey to get the ring to Mordor is even more challenging with Gollum along for the ride and the ring's power getting to Frodo's mind. Everything is getting tougher, which only leads to more anticipation for the next entry which believe it or not, is even bigger in scale than this film. Another great entry in a great trilogy.
