The Mask - Review

Oh boy. I am really going to piss people off with this one. I don't get this movie. The humour, the story, the premise, all of it. It just doesn't speak to me. I could end the review right here because that's all I really have to say. Watching Jim Carrey do funny voices and stuff is all fun and innocent, but I don't know man, I wasn't really into it. It got old real fast. The plot, I just didn't care. Some nightclub owners want to steal some money for... to be honest, I have no idea. I can just hear people screaming at me right now, "Brandon! Can't you just sit back and have fun? It's a popcorn movie. Not meant to be taken seriously! Your taste in movies sucks." Maybe it does my friend, but I really have no explanation for you. I didn't really laugh once during this movie. Yes, Cameron Diaz was drop dead gorgeous, but that's not enough to save a movie. However, although it may sound contradictory to what I have just said, but I didn't hate this movie. At no point did I say to myself, "Man I want to shut this off right now." However, I wasn't necessarily having a great time either. Just kind of a mediocre viewing experience. The jokes just didn't speak to me, what can I say? This movie is loved by many people so I suggest, watch a trailer and decide for yourself. If you think that that kind of humour will be right up your alley, then I'd say give it a shot, but I'm not watching this movie again any time soon. Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I can't lie about what I think of a movie.
