Shaun of the Dead - Review

The Halloween prep continues with a zombie apocalypse. After re-watching Hot Fuzz (one of my all-time favourite films) I decided to give Shaun of the Dead another shot. All I can really say about this film is that it is enjoyable, but nowhere near as funny or entertaining as Hot Fuzz. I don't know. The jokes to me aren't as funny or clever. I never laughed out loud during Shaun of the Dead as opposed to laughing constantly at Hot Fuzz. The characters, especially the side characters aren't nearly as enjoyable. I found them rather annoying, to be honest. While I may not enjoy this film as much as Hot Fuzz, nothing in this film is really bad or cringe-worthy or boring. It's just one of those movies I would throw in the, "Yeah, it's enjoyable sure" pile. Nothing too exciting, nothing particularly awful, just a well made, enjoyable movie. People will often tell me that this is one of their favourite comedies of all time and that they actually prefer this to Hot Fuzz, so there are definitely fans out there. I'd say check out a trailer and see if you might be interested. Who knows, you might just fall into the group of people who absolutely loves this movie. If you do, then that's wonderful. Wish I was in the same boat as you. Not fantastic, but good.
