Friday the 13th - Review

This is why I don't watch horror movies. Not that I'm really scared, but because if you have seen one slasher movie, you've seen them all. Now people will argue with me and say that this movie came out in 1980 and that you can't really judge it for being unoriginal. It was one of the earlier slasher films. Well that may be a good point, it still doesn't hide the fact that this film 37 years later is laughable. The acting, the sound effects, and especially the decisions made by the characters. While that stuff may be annoying, the biggest letdown by far is that you NEVER SEE JASON VORHEES WITH THE HOCKEY MASK! Really?! That's whole reason why I wanted to watch this sucker. That and I have never seen it and I watched it on Friday the 13th in October. Seemed like a good day to watch a horror "classic" that I have never seen before. But like I said, I knew the outcome of this movie as soon as it started. Kids go to camp, all get killed off except for one girl (who looks EXACTLY like Beverly from the newest IT movie) who is wide-eyed and naive. Some may say that this invented the genre so I can't be hard on it, but it's still distracting all these years later. Also, I don't know how this movie warranted so many god damn sequels. Either way, I don't plan on watching them and I don't plan on watching this movie again. I'm sure there are better horror movies out there.
