Scary Movie - Review

One of the only spoof movies I actually like. I remember liking Airplane and movies like that that came out before 2000, however, Scary Movie changed the game because it was satirizing a genre and films that were popular over the last couple years. You might think that this movie would be incredibly dated because of that, (parodying the Matrix and the Usual Suspects) but I love the 90's and I'm sorry, but I can't help but laugh at these jokes. Some are clever and some are completely dumb, but it's still hilarious. When the killer tries to kill the hot girl of the movie, he stabs her in her breast and it gets stuck because her boobs are fake, or when the teenagers accidentally run over somebody and they think he is dead but he is actually fine but then they throw him into the water anyways. Stuff like that is clever and funny. Lines like, "Yes, come in dear. Take off your bra if you'd like" when the gym teacher, who happens to be a transgender named Mrs. Man (hilarious right?), asks Cindy to come into her office. Like... what? I don't really get it, but you laugh at it because it's so unexpected. Looking back on this movie in 2017, lots of these jokes would be considered triggering. One of the police officers is retarded, gay jokes, fat shaming, and there is a little bit of racism towards black people. When I say that, I say that one girl in this film happens to be black and she is all like, "Dammmmmmn girl. You looking fine as hell suga!" Is that racist? I don't know. I like dumb humour mixed in with some clever setups. If you find yourself at home one weekend in October with a couple buddies and some beers and want a little 90's trip, Scary Movie is a fun little spoof making fun of all teenage/horror movies of the 90's.
