Pineapple Express - Review

Get your hate mail, ready folks. I thought this movie was just... okay. So "okay" that I barely have any words to describe how mediocre this movie is. How are the jokes? They're "okay". How is the actor's chemistry? " It's "okay". How's the plot? Well, I can't really say that it reminds me of Horrible Bosses and that it's a bad thing that they are similar because this came out first. To me, basically every single joke in this movie has the same punch-line, and that is that James Franco and Seth Rogen are high this entire movie. While being high as a kite, everything around you suddenly becomes too funny to handle and you find yourself rolling on the couch and tears coming down your eyes from laughing as hard. Hate to break it to you, but watching somebody super high while you are completely sober is nowhere near as entertaining. It's kind of like watching your friend do something completely stupid at a bar. If you are drunk, you are going to think it's hilarious that your buddy just tried to hit on some girl but he fell face first on the dance floor before he could get a word in. If you are sober/ are the DD (Designated Driver) you are going to be thinking, "Great, I'm going to have to take care of this alcoholic all night. God, I hope he doesn't puke in my car." See what I mean? I'm sure if you were super baked while watching this, you'd be laughing hysterically. However, while sober, at least for me anyway, I thought this was a very average movie. If you like stoner comedies then hey, go for it. You might love it, but I don't think I'll be watching this one again anytime soon.
