If my luck with women that I had in my late teen's was still with me today, then I would have given Alex Hitchens a call. Not even going to lie about it. You can go on YouTube and find thousands upon thousands of videos labeled things like, "How to get a girl to fall in love with you" or "How to get a girlfriend" or "How to get laid". I will admit, I have seen my fair share of these videos and it's all over the map with advice. Some people will tell you that you need to pay attention to the little details like, "If you are in the bar with her and you are walking somewhere, make sure to put your hand on her lower back to guide her through the crowd for it breaks the touch barrier subconsciously" and some will say that you can only get laid if you dress like this and talk a certain way and text her at certain times of the day and all that crap. While some tips are useful like "don't text her every moment of every day before you two have even met each other" the most important lesson is to be yourself. That is why I like this movie. It's about showing that if you are yourself, you will attract the person you are meant to be with. Now, does that mean that all "dating advice" is crap? Not at all. Sometimes you need someone to unlock your hidden confidence and be a motivator for you to sweep that woman right off her feet. That is Will Smith and Kevin James here. Kevin James might look like a loser spilling his hotdog mustard all over himself, but he just needed some confidence to get up the courage to go after the woman he wants. A valuable lesson indeed. Another valuable lesson this movie teaches us is that not everything has to be perfect when it comes to dating. Sometimes people are attracted to the imperfections on people and it's the sincereness that comes with actions that count as opposed to the actions themselves. You can wine and dine a girl all you want, but if she knows that it's all only to get some at the end of the night, chances are those actions won't seem too special anymore (Unless she's a gold digger...) Good messages mixed into a movie with likable characters and some funny jokes, you got yourself a good movie, especially for date night.
