Fast & Furious - Review

New Model, Original Parts. That was the slogan for this movie. Too bad those old parts are now rusty and barely functioning. Like, to be honest with you, I can't even think of things to say about this movie because it was so boring. This movie acts as the bridge between the "The Fast and the Furious" films of the early 2000's and the newer adrenaline-packed action blockbusters with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. This film does some of the over the top stunts that we come to expect in the newer films, but yet it tries to tell a story similar to the one in the first movie. The original movie was just your generic LA street gang drag race movie and it's so delightfully dated. This movie is the first time since the original where all the main cast are back together and they play it up like this is a serious crime drama and it comes off extremely cheesy and pretentious. Paul Walker is a likeable dude, but this is an awful performance. Same with everyone in the cast too be honest. Thankfully, the filmmakers knew what worked in this franchise and ran with it and the films became much more fun and entertaining. Here, it tries way too hard to be serious and it flat out doesn't work. So far, in my run of re-watching all these films again, this is one has to be the worst.
