I'm going to be short and honest with this review. Was this film funny? Yes it was. Was it entertaining? Yes it was. Were the action scenes fun to watch? Yes they were. Was the story compelling? Not really. Were there any heartfelt moments? Surprisingly yes. Do I love this movie? No I don't, and I know just saying that is going to piss people off. Like I said about the first Avengers film, the novelty of having all these different superheroes in one film has worn off. Same can be said with Deadpool. In 2016, we got a superhero film with a character that broke the 4th wall, swore like a trucker and had more violent action than a Tarantino fi... well... okay maybe not that much violence, but you know what I am getting at. We hadn't seen any of that before and it made up for the lack of originality in terms of the story and plot. Now we have the origin story out of the way and we can tell a unique story right? Wrong. This film's plot is still extremely basic and to be honest, rather boring. However, I can look past that if we have likeable characters and funny moments. We got those, but it's the same jokes we've heard before. This movie didn't really bring anything new to the table except for the surprisingly heartfelt section of the film which I won't spoil. I feel like this movie did what the Kingsman films did, then I would have loved these movies. Have more badass fight sequences to songs that clearly don't fit and have little quips in between and less focus on generic story. That's just me. I know tons of people love this humour, for me, it's not enough for me to run down the streets and recommend this movie to every person I come across. This film is fun, but like the first one, I don't see the masterpiece everyone else does.
