This is one of those movies where the premise is better than the execution. Meaning that the very idea of the movie can be talked about for hours on hours but the movie will be forgotten fairly quickly. The whole premise of this movie is that Eddie Morra played by Bradley Cooper is a washed-up loser who comes across these pills (NZT) that allow him to use 100% of his brain rather than say.. 10% I don't know the official stats and I don't even know if that statement is true, but this film allows us to explore the possibility of being able to remember everything we see, hear, touch, smell, taste, and feel. That lecture you had about the Ancient Egyptians in grade 4, you remember all of it. Knowing how many cards have been played in a game of Blackjack and knowing the exact probability of the next card to show up, you got it. Knowing exactly what people want to hear? Yes sir. Learn a language in 45 minutes, sure why not? These are the things to start to think about when you watch this movie. You don't necessarily really care about the story or the characters or even what the hell is even going on, rather it makes you wonder what you would do if you had those pills. To be honest, I would learn so many new things. How to play a bunch of different instruments, how to speak many different languages, and of course, use it in the dating world. Oh come on, you would too. This movie is mildly entertaining, but the story is completely overshadowed by the premise of the NZT pill alone. When Eddie's supply of pills run dry and he is hunted down by loan sharks, I instantly lose interest and want the movie to go back to the scenes with Eddie on NZT and going great things. It's an interesting topic starter, but as for entertainment, it gets the job done, however I don't think I'll ever be watching Limitless again.
