First Blood - Review

The movie that kickstarted the Rambo franchise. But what is interesting about this entry is that it doesn't play as an over-the-top action movie, it plays like a dramatic thriller with some action scenes spliced in here and there. A story about the affects on war and the perception of war vets from people back at home.

Sylvester Stallone gives a great performance with his facial expressions and his physical movements. The villain Sheriff Teasle played by Bill Denehy is also great because he has so much conviction and hates Rambo with a passion and honestly believes he is the good guy. Mix that with Richard Crenna's hard nosed performance as Colonel Troutman and you have a great mix of characters in this tightly edited action thriller.
