Cruel Intentions - Review

We have seen this story told in better ways in many other movies. Here, it's way too melodramatic and the characters don't talk like highschoolers what so ever, they sound more like super villains which makes them both extremely unlikable. I simply felt uncomfortable the entire way through. I would give the movie a pass if I actually believed that our main character actually went through some change, but instead we have a side-plot involving a girl who has never been to public school with a racist mother and an African american violin instructor. Lacks focus, lacks charm, lacks heart and lacks an emotional connection with the audience. Instead we have an hour and a half of characters we don't like gossiping about characters we don't know. At least Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon give good performances, but it's an extremely small silver lining.
