The Matrix - Review

The Matrix has everything I want in a movie. Likable characters, a simple yet effective story, a grand mythology, strong world building, a sleek style, bad-ass action sequences, menacing villains, a great musical score and soundtrack, real high emotional stakes and thought-provoking themes and messages.
I see the Matrix as a mix between Terminator in it's story elements and Star Wars in it's story beats, but it's presented to us in a unique style that feels fresh. A wonderful world that feels both futuristic and dated with it's 90's tech, leather wardrobe, heavy metal soundtrack, lime-green colour palette (in some versions of the film), and bullet-time kung fu action sequences.
On top of that, it is enriched in this mythology that people actually think is real. Seriously, this movie is not only entertaining, but it's thought provoking too. Overall, what a wonderful movie!
