Moonraker - Review

Moonraker is very similar to The Man With the Golden Gun in terms of how the plot is very loosely strung together by a series of many differing locations and sequences. It makes you feel like you are in a pinball machine bouncing between plot points. However, where The Man With The Golden Gun didn't really bring in anything memorable other than Mr. Scaramanga's fun house, Moonraker's events are both extremely over-the-top and cartoonish, but you'll be damn sure that they stick with you.
This isn't the best Bond film out there. As a matter of fact, if you need your 007 adventure to be full of espionage like From Russia With Love, or with that gritty sense of realism like in Goldeneye, Casino Royale, Skyfall, etc. then Moonraker is not the movie for you. While Diamonds are Forever was full of bizarre moments that just weren't fun to watch, Moonraker's over the top moments are at least impressive and make you smile. Think of this as James Bond presents Moonraker: A Star Wars like - Saturday Morning Cartoon spectacular. If you go in with that mindset, then this movie can work for you as simple entertainment.
However, there are better Bond films out there, even from Roger Moore.
